Narasaraopet, April 4: YSRCP demanded that the coalition government immediately release pending Aarogyasri dues and stop corruption in the Chief Minister Relief Fund (CMRF), stating that poor patients are suffering due to negligence.
Speaking to the media at the YSRCP office in Narasaraopet, district president Gopireddy Srinivasa Reddy, former MLA Bolla Brahmanaidu, and coordinators Gajjala Sudheer Bhargav Reddy and Chintalapudi Ashok Kumar said that nearly Rs. 3,000 crore dues to network hospitals are pending. They stated that clearing just a few days’ borrowings of the government would revive the scheme and ensure treatment for the poor.
The leaders said the government is weakening Aarogyasri in the name of a universal health scheme and creating confusion by neither continuing the trust model nor properly shifting to an insurance model. They expressed concern that under insurance, benefits may be reduced and there is no guarantee that all procedures will be covered as before.
They alleged that hospitals are refusing treatment due to non-payment of dues and some are on the verge of closure. They also raised concerns about irregularities in CMRF, claiming that funds are being misused and not reaching genuine beneficiaries.
They said that under the previous YSRCP rule, Aarogyasri provided strong support to poor families with wider coverage and better implementation. They urged the government to increase package rates, clear dues immediately, and ensure uninterrupted healthcare services, warning of serious consequences if the issue is not addressed.
