Govt acting draconian towards SCs, STs

Maheswaram, Dec 12,
2012: Launching a scathing attack on Kiran Kumar Reddy Government, Smt.
Sharmila has charged the administration with adopting draconian measures
towards the SCs and STs.
Interacting with a
large number of women at a Rachchabanda programme at Maheswaram in Ranga Reddy district on Wednesday, she said
the Government has been exploiting the Dalits to the hilt and pushing them into
utter poverty instead of taking steps for their welfare.
Smt. Sharmila, who has
been undertaking Maro Praja Prasthanam Padayatra on behalf of YSR Congress
Party president Sri. Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, was reacting to complaints from
women that the lands allotted to them were taken away by the Government.
Women, who came in
droves from the surrounding villages of Maheswaram to listen to her, narrated
their problems. “We were given lands by Dr. YSR but the present Government had
taken away the lands without compensation,” they told Smt. Sharmila.
She lambasted the
Government for taking back the lands allotted to SCs and STs and giving them to
private persons and companies. Assuring that YSR Congress would take up their
cause and strive to ensure they would get back their lands, she asked them to
wait for Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy to become CM for solving their problems.
“The Government should
at least open its eyes now and take steps for the welfare of the SCs and STs,” she
said.
