Our concern is on Polavaram: Mysoora Reddy

Hyderabad, Reiterating that Rayalaseema region has always been getting a raw deal under TDP government, YSR Congress has said that the Pattiseema project will lead to the neglect of Polavaram project which is designed to bring water to the arid region.
Speaking to reporters here on Monday, party senior leader Dr MV Mysoora Reddy said;” The GO issued for carrying out the work on Pattiseema has no mention of waters to Rayalaseema and is being taken up in a hurry. This only shows that TDP will continue its apathy towards Rayalaseema though the leaders are talking tall on the issue.”
Our fear is that the Polavaram project will be kept in cold storage if the Pattiseema project is taken up as it has similar goals but water cannot be taken to Rayalaseema as the storage facilities are not created. The Pattiseema project benefits the contractors and water cannot come to the arid region due to lack of infrastructure.
“Above all the GO issued for taking up Pattiseema has no mention of waters to Rayalaseema while the Tribunal Award clearly mention that the upper riparian states of Maharashtra and Karnataka will get additional waters the moment the project gets the Central Water Commission (CWC) nod,” he said.
Our concern is about Polavaram as the project is designed to bring Godavari flood waters to Krishna delta and to Rayalaseema but there is no such mention in the
Pattiseema project and huge amounts of money would be wasted to a project which is redundant in nature, he said.
