Tadepalli, March 31: Former Minister and YSRCP East Godavari District President Chelluboina Srinivasa Venugopalakrishna slammed the alliance government’s P-4 event as a complete failure. Addressing the media, he condemned TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu’s derogatory remarks against BCs during the event, stating that Naidu has always looked down on the poor and exposed his true colours once again.
Venugopalakrishna criticized Naidu’s hypocrisy, saying he claims to support the poor but has never implemented real welfare programs. He accused Naidu of treating TDP as an exclusive club for a particular section of society while consistently displaying a dismissive attitude towards Dalits, BCs, and weaker sections. He recalled Naidu’s past offensive statements, including questioning why anyone would want to be born into a Dalit family and making similarly inappropriate comments during the P-4 event.
He further reminded Naidu’s past humiliations of BCs, including his remarks against Nayee Brahmins at the Secretariat and his intimidating statements during the Nandyal by-election. He also pointed out instances where TDP leaders, such as Adinarayana Reddy and Chintamaneni Prabhakar, made degrading comments against marginalized communities.
Condemning the deteriorating law and order under the alliance government, Venugopalakrishna highlighted the brutal murder of YSRCP worker Kuruba Lingayya in Sri Sathya Sai district. Despite allegations against TDP MLA Paritala Sunitha’s relatives, the police failed to act. He also criticized the house arrest of former MP Gorantla Madhav, questioning whether democracy still exists in the state or if the “Red Book” governance, as frequently mentioned by Minister Nara Lokesh, is in effect.
Slamming Naidu’s P-4 program, he called it an attempt to shift the government’s responsibility for poverty eradication onto the rich. He refuted Naidu’s claims that the wealthy should adopt the poor, emphasizing that welfare is the government’s constitutional duty. He pointed out that instead of strengthening SC and BC sub-plans, Naidu is trying to evade responsibility.
Venugopalakrishna reminded Naidu that YSRCP, under CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, has upheld welfare schemes despite financial constraints. He credited the late Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy for initiatives like fee reimbursement, which helped underprivileged families escape poverty. In contrast, he accused Naidu of limiting BCs to traditional occupations rather than promoting their education and progress.
He concluded by reaffirming YSRCP’s commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of marginalized communities while opposing the TDP government’s regressive policies and indifference towards the poor.
