Tadepalli, April 13: YSRCP Student Wing Working President A. Ravichandra stated that corporate educational institutions have turned into finance businesses by tying up with finance companies and exploiting students’ parents through illegal fee collections. Speaking to the media at the party central office in Tadepalli, he questioned whether Education Minister Nara Lokesh is “asleep” as institutions are collecting first-term fees for the 2026–27 academic year even before the current academic year is completed, in clear violation of norms.
He stated that parents are being threatened through messages demanding timely payment of fees, warning of interest charges in case of delay, while the government remains inactive. Ravichandra pointed out that institutions like Chaitanya and Narayana are facilitating loans to students for six to nine months and recovering the amounts through EMIs, effectively running a parallel finance system under the guise of education.
He criticized that while concerns were already being raised about commercialization of education, the shift towards finance operations by educational institutions has gone unchecked. He recalled that during the YSRCP government, a regulatory committee was established to control fees and prevent such exploitation, but under the current regime, institutions are openly looting parents in the name of fees.
He stated that Lokesh, acting as a “shadow Chief Minister,” lacks control and understanding of the education sector and demanded his immediate resignation. Ravichandra urged the government to immediately constitute a monitoring committee to regulate fees and stop the ongoing harassment of students and parents.
