*Red Book rule replaced the Constitution*

*Police system collapses under political governance*

*Tadepalli, April 13:* YSRCP SC Cell President and former MLA TJR Sudhakar Babu stated that constitutional governance has been replaced by “Red Book rule” in Andhra Pradesh, leading to a complete breakdown of law and order under the coalition government. The police system has gone off track, functioning as an extension of the ruling party rather than as a neutral institution meant to uphold the law. YSRCP cadres and sympathisers are being systematically targeted through illegal cases, custodial harassment, and even abductions across state borders, while those in power enjoy protection.
Citing a series of disturbing incidents, he pointed out that police harassment drove Palnadu sub-sarpanch Nagamalleswara Rao to suicide, while YSRCP leader Talapala Venkateswarlu’s pleas to authorities went unanswered. Former minister Vidadala Rajini was assaulted by a CI, a Dalit woman Banka Sharada faced brutal attack by a CI in Chundur, and a Macharla ASI was exposed for blackmailing couples and sexually harassing women using private videos. In Chimakurthi, even police personnel were arrested in a lawyer’s murder case, highlighting how law enforcers themselves are turning into offenders. In another shocking incident, police trespassed into a Dalit leader’s house in plain clothes attempting abduction.
He further questioned why no action is being taken against ruling party MLAs facing serious allegations, including sexual assault complaints. In one case, when a rape complaint surfaced against a Railway Koduru MLA, the victim herself was attacked publicly. Allegations against MLAs like Koneti Adimulam and harassment complaints against Amudalavalasa MLA Kuna Ravikumar have seen no response. Even serious allegations surrounding TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu are being ignored, raising concerns about selective enforcement of the law.
Sudhakar Babu stated that certain police officers are competing with ruling party cadres in implementing “Red Book governance,” turning police stations into political offices. The Director General of Police has failed to stand with victims or uphold institutional integrity. Good governance has collapsed, and Andhra Pradesh is increasingly becoming a state where weaker sections have no protection.
He asserted that this is a democracy, not a monarchy, and warned that treating a 40% vote-share opposition as an enemy to be crushed is a dangerous and undemocratic trend. Social media expression is being criminalised, with individuals facing fabricated cases and torture for merely posting opinions. He cautioned that power is not permanent and urged police officials to stop overstepping legal boundaries under political influence.

He concluded that the police joining hands with political forces to participate in illegal activities is a stain on the system, and warned that those responsible for targeting innocent YSRCP workers will be held accountable in the future. YSRCP reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling this “Red Book regime” and restoring constitutional order and democratic values in the state.
