Tadepalli, Feb 21: YSRCP spokesperson Yanamala Nagarjuna Yadav slammed CM Chandrababu Naidu for deceiving the public with false promises on power tariffs before elections. He criticized Chandrababu for assuring no tariff hikes but imposing a Rs. 15,780 crore burden through "True-Up" charges within six months - Rs. 6,072 crore on November 25, 2024, and Rs. 9,412 crore on November 29, 2024.
Nagarjuna highlighted the APERC report exposing plans to levy peak-hour surcharges on 30 lakh small traders with low-tension (LT) connections, a charge previously limited to high-tension (HT) industries. He also condemned the government's decision to install smart meters in 1.6 crore households, despite earlier opposition to them, raising concerns over future surcharges based on peak-hour usage.
He accused Chandrababu of double standards, turning pre-election promises of tariff reductions into heavy financial burdens, pushing small traders into distress.
