Visakhapatnam, Nov 6: Upping the ante against Chandrababu Naidu governance, Leader of Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has said that the State is littered with rampant corruption, atrocities on women, policies driving farmers to suicides and serious attempts to bury the demand for special category status.
Addressing a mammoth gathering as part of Jai Andhra Pradesh meeting to highlight the need for a special status YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has said that special category status is our right and we have to achieve it for the welfare of the future generations.
During electioneering Chandrababu Naidu and BJP had assured of special category status for five years, ten years and fifteen years and after coming to power were trying to push back the issue for personal and political gains.
‘This was the very venue from where Narender Modi, Venkaiah Naidu and Chandrababu Naidu have assured that special status would be given for ten years and not five years as promised by the Congress. But now they have gone back on the promise and this meeting should send vibrations in them for the cheating. It is the gold jubilee year of the slogan Visakha Ukku Ma Janma hakku that has become a reality. It is now the turn of Jai Andhra Pradesh meeting roaring for the special category status to become a reality.’
TDP boasted of a golden era but it has become a land of drought, atrocities on women, suicides and pushing various sections of society into distress. The governance of Chandrababu Naidu has been on the slide and his policies have driven famers to indebtedness after being compelled to borrow money from the money lenders as they have become defaulters with promise of loan waiver not being honoured. Over 93 % of the farmers are in debt.
Atrocities on women is on the rise and the government is planning for beach parties throwing the rich heritage of the region to winds. Of the four ministers charged with atrocities on women in the entire country two are from our state.
The state has achieved first rank in corruption which was revealed by a survey. The state is reeling under unseasonal rains or drought and no measures are taken to save the farmers. Not a single industry has come ever since TDP came to power and not a single poll promise was fulfilled.
‘Chandrababu Naidu is interested only in furthering his personal assets and commercial ventures and has scant respect for the people’s welfare. While people are in duress due to the policies of the government with lack of drinking water, the State has given license to increase the liquor production. His assets net worth has grown manifold, if not the growth rate and Heritage Foods share price has increased by 400 %. It is time that we join hands and fight for the goal of achieving the goal of attaining special category status, he said.
