Visakhapatnam, April 4: YSRCP has reiterated that the coalition government lacks sincerity on Amaravati and it reflects in the pace of works done during its previous term and this one.
Speaking to media here on Saturday, leader in the Legislative Council Botsa Satyanarayana said the resolution passed in the Assembly was not sent to the Council as they have to face pointed questions from the Opposition.
After assuming office, what is the progress of the project is not told, and why Special Category Status and other assurances made in the State Reorganization Bill were not included is a point of concern.
We are not against Amaravati but are against the extravaganza and high costs involved in it.
While the standard rate of construction cost per sft is Rs 4,000, in Amaravati it's over Rs 14,000, which shows how much money is being wasted or is being pocketed.
This has been the point of objection and our leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has suggested Mavigun as it is more feasible and practical.
The ruling coalition calling names on the proposal is highly objectionable, he said.
The Machilipatnam Vijayawada Guntur corridor is already developed and the cost would come down.
The road to Secretariat and Assembly remains the same narrow one and nothing was done by the coalition. The government did not complete the staff quarters till now, which shows its level of sincerity, he said.
The expert committee on urban development has recommended the region for capital but still the coalition is harping on it and seems like it wants the works to continue for long for selfish reasons.
With all focus on Amaravati, all sections of people are being cheated as farmers are not getting MSP, no fee reimbursement to students, and no jobs for youth.
All sections of people suffer, students, farmers; why no SCS resolution? In 2 years, what progress? In the previous 5 years, only 5 percent work. Construction cost.
