Chilakaluripet, April 4: YSRCP leader and former minister Vidadala Rajini strongly criticised the TDP coalition government over rising crimes against women, citing the recent assault on a woman government employee in Palnadu district as a shocking example of failing law and order.
Speaking to the media in Chilakaluripet, she said attacks, harassment, and atrocities against women have increased sharply in the last two years. She questioned whether the government is capable of providing even basic safety to women. She alleged that the “Red Book governance” has diverted police focus from public safety to political targeting, resulting in rising insecurity and even increasing cases of suicides among women.
Rajini said that under Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Andhra Pradesh Police ranked among the best in the country, supported by systems like Disha App, Disha police stations, and Zero FIR. However, she claimed that under the present coalition rule, policing standards have fallen drastically.
She said the Palnadu incident, where an attacker entered a woman’s home and committed a heinous crime, shows the complete collapse of safety mechanisms. She questioned what the police are doing while such incidents continue and alleged that there is no sincerity either in governance or policing.
Rajini demanded that the government wake up and take immediate, strict measures to ensure women’s safety. She urged authorities to focus on law and order, control illegal activities like drugs and liquor, and prevent such incidents from recurring.
