Amaravati, Feb 25: Botsa Satyanarayana, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, criticized the Governor’s address for lacking direction and including politically motivated remarks, such as references to the "destruction by the previous government," which he called deplorable.
He slammed Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan’s uninformed comments on opposition recognition, justifying YSRCP’s boycott of the session to protest the speech’s irrelevance. Botsa clarified that YSRCP has no issue with Pawan Kalyan taking the opposition leader role, as it depends on seat count, not vote share, despite YSRCP’s higher votes.
He dismissed arguments suggesting attendance on the day of the Governor’s address should not count, stating that their presence was intended to bring public attention to their rights through the Governor’s platform. Botsa affirmed that the party would convey the same stance if questioned by the Speaker, underscoring their readiness to address all issues based on context and timing as a responsible political entity.
He demanded a probe into the mass resignations of university Vice-Chancellors, coercion, and favoritism in their replacements. Botsa also highlighted the government’s neglect of Group-2 exam candidates’ roster system concerns, noting that despite protests and the CMO’s request to postpone exams, APPSC ignored it, an insult to the CM.
He criticized the government for prioritizing long-term "Super Ten" plans for 2047 over unfulfilled "Super Six" promises, sarcastically questioning their commitment. Botsa reiterated YSRCP’s claim as the sole major opposition, given the ruling coalition of three parties, and pledged to address all issues responsibly.
