Home Minister dials up DGP, demands action against TDP leaders and workers

Minister claims women, SCs, STs and BCs are being Targeted by TDP worker

 Andhra Pradesh DGP Harish Gupta, State Home Minister Taneti Vanitha spoke on phone. She brought to the attention of the DGP the incidents of violence that occurred at many places during the election.

She spoke to the DGP about the violence committed by TDP leaders and activists in Chandragiri, Gurjala, Tadipatri, Gopalapuram and other constituencies. It was brought to the attention of the DGP that the local police are acting indifferently while attacking the MLAs. 

Minister has said that TDP leaders are attacking women, BCs, SCs and STs on the grounds that they did not vote for TDP. If the TDP fails to stop the atrocities and violence immediately, there will be severe resistance from women, SCs, STs and BCs, she said. 

She demanded immediate arrest of the leaders and workers involved in the attacks as per the law. The DGP was asked to inform the exact action taken by the police. 

The Home Minister said that there is information that the security affairs inspector appointed by the Election Commission in the state is acting unilaterally. She said similar situations were faced in the state due to the behavior of election police observer. 

Home Minister Vanitha explained to the DGP that this situation has arisen due to the irresponsible transfers made by the TDP while blocking the complaints given by them. 

Home Minister Taneti Vanitha asked DGP Harish Gupta to punish the perpetrators for the atrocities.
