Tadepalli, March 27: Affirming that Haindava Dharma slipped to its lowest ebb during the coalition governance, former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said, the contrast could be seen as to who safeguarded the dharma vis-à-vis the demolition of sacred Kasinayana Kshetra.
Taking to social media X, YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said, though the Centre has ordered to stall the construction work of Kasinayana Kshetra, on August 7, 2023, it was our government which stalled move initiated by Union Ministry of Environment and Forests.
“As Chief Minister I wrote a letter on August 18 to the Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav to exempt the 12.98 hectare land of Kasinayana Kshetra and the State would comply with of the conditions laid for it without fail,” he said.
With that the Centre yielded to our request and stalled its move and during our five tenure there were no further attempts on this front. This is the commitment we have towards temples and religious affairs.
In sharp criticism, he accused the coalition government of reversing this progress within six months of taking office. “The state has seen bulldozers raze a renowned temple under the government’s supervision, with orders from the Collector, overseen by the RDO, and directives from the Special Chief Secretary of the Environment and Forest Department at the behest of Deputy Chief Minister and Chandrababu”.
Labelling the demolition a “barbaric attack” on Hindu Dharma driven by “arrogant power,” he challenged the government to respond, presenting what he called irrefutable evidence.
YS Jagan accused the coalition of hypocrisy, claiming that they only “issue orders, demolish with their own hands, and then spin tales to cover it up.” He cited additional controversies under the current regime, including the Tirumala laddu propaganda and Tirumala stampede as further evidence of their failure to uphold temple sanctity.
Targeting the Deputy Chief Minister, who oversees the Forest Department, he questioned, “A self-proclaimed Sanatana Dharma advocate hasn’t said a word about demolitions under his own department. Does he have any right to speak on Hindu Dharma?”
