Nellore, April 1: MLC Parvatareddy Chandrasekhar Reddy condemned the coalition government for targeting former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy and foisting illegal cases. He accused the government of conspiring to silence Kakani by filing baseless charges, including non-bailable sections, to block bail. Chandrasekhar clarified that Kakani was active in Nellore until Saturday, yet police served notices only on Ugadi, when he was celebrating with family in Hyderabad, calling it a deliberate plot.
He slammed the government for resorting to diversion politics to mask its failure to deliver on promises like Super Six, warning that such tactics won’t suppress YSRCP’s voice.
Chandrasekhar highlighted an unprecedented low in Nellore politics, with the government attempting to arrest senior leaders like Kakani, whose family has decades of political legacy. He alleged a three-month conspiracy tying Kakani to quartz mining through coerced statements, culminating in an SC/ST case filed on the day of a High Court hearing to derail a quash petition. Refuting claims of Kakani being absconding, Chandrasekhar released photos proving he was in Hyderabad for Ugadi. He noted that police arrived at Kakani’s home at 6:30 PM, attempting to break in and pasting notices on the walls after finding it locked. Kakani, who plans to return to Nellore by Thursday, assured availability for questioning then.
Chandrasekhar vowed that YSRCP, backed by public support, would resist this “vicious politics,” cautioning the coalition that targeting leaders could backfire if YSRCP regains power. He added that the party would continue fighting for people’s issues undeterred by such cases.
