Nellore, March 24: YSRCP has slammed coalition government for lack of transparency in awarding contracts and resorting to nepotism and institutionalizing corruption in the process.
Speaking to media here on Monday, former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy said, the coalition government has done away with judicial purview and reverse tendering system which had checks and balances on the bidding process and was widely appreciated even by Niti Ayog.
The Amaravati capital construction works are awarded to people close to Chandrbabu Naidu and has brought in mobilization advance method which drew a flak earlier and the 59 packages are awarded only eight companies, close to Chandrababu and TDP, thereby misusing public money on a largescale.
The same system which was followed by the Chandrababu Naidu during his 2014-19 term is back in action with syndicates and rings being formed to get the contracts for kickbacks and the very same institutions are in full play now in the Amaravati works.
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had saved Rs 7,500 crores through reverse tendering during his term on various projects. His system of judicial preview and reverse tendering had many check and balances and was transparent which did not allow any syndicates to be formed.
The coalition government on the other hand had done away with the judicial preview and reverse tendering and has been awarding contracts at an exorbitant rates only for kickbacks which is largescale misuse of public money. It happened in Pattisema and various other projects earlier.
YSRCP demands that transparency should be brought in to the tender process to save public money, he said.
