Tadepalli, March 25: YSRCP MLC Lella Appi Reddy expressed serious concern over the worsening situation of farmers in the state due to the lack of fair prices for their crops. Speaking to the media at the YSRCP central office, he stated that farmers are struggling without profitable prices, while the ruling alliance government remains indifferent.
Appireddy pointed out that despite promises, the government has failed to support chili farmers. He criticized the administration for ignoring the protests of farmers who have taken to the streets demanding fair prices. He assured that YSRCP will stand by the farmers and hold the government accountable.
He recalled that former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had visited Guntur’s chili yard last month to understand farmers' issues, which forced the government to respond. However, even after 60 days of promising to buy chili at Rs 11,781 per quintal, the government has not started procurement. Meanwhile, certain media houses falsely claim that farmers have received financial assistance.
Farmers in Guntur are protesting today, demanding fair prices. He questioned why the government allocated only Rs 300 crore for price stabilization when the previous YSRCP government had set aside Rs 3,000 crore. He urged immediate action, warning that YSRCP will continue to fight for farmers’ rights.
