Pulivendula, March 24: Former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy flayed the coalition government for neglecting the farmers and demanded immediate compensation to the farmers who suffered heavy loss due to the recent heavy rains that had damaged horticulture crop in the region pushing farmers in to distress.

The coalition government has no concern for farmers who lost their standing crop due to gale and unseasonal rains on Saturday, he told media after witnessing the extent of damage done to the banana crop and the plight of farmers of Thatireddypalli of Lingala mandal, who poured their woes and said that there was no help coming from the government though the matter was told to them.
Demanding immediately compensation and relief to the farmers, he said YSCRP has set up integrated cold storages at a cost of Rs 25 crores and the coalition government failed to given them to user agency which would have been beneficial to the farmers in such occasion, Such facility was aimed at procuring farmer produce and the storage capacity is about 500 metric tons, he said adding that free crop insurance was the right of farmers during our term.

The coalition government has done away with free crop insurance and farmers are not receiving zero interest loans. We will put pressure on the government to come to the rescue of the farmers, he said.
The prices have fallen down from Rs 26, 000 to Rs 9,000 and slided further to Rs 6,000 and there is no concern for farmer by the coalition. Even it has failed to procure paddy, mirchi and other millets showing its anti-farmer policy.
The inuput subsidy and insurance should be given to the affected farmer in 4,000 acres where the crop was damaged and we will mount pressure on the government to this effect, he said and recalled how such situations were dealt during YSRPC government and banana and other horticulture corps were exported even during Covid and farmers were happy, he said.
e assured the farmers that he would talk to MP YS Avinash Reddy and extend whatever support they could from the Party and in the coming days when our Party returns to power all accumulated amount would credited to the farmers account, he said.
