Tadepalli, April 5: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) held a grand event at its central office to mark Babu Jagjivan Ram’s birth anniversary. Senior leaders, including Merugu Nagarjuna, Nandigam Suresh, MLC Arun Kumar, and TJR Sudhakar Babu, paid tributes to his portrait and stressed the need to uphold his and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s ideals, urging Andhra Pradesh’s government to follow suit.
Former Minister Merugu Nagarjuna hailed Jagjivan Ram and Ambedkar as beacons of hope against untouchability, crediting their reforms for national progress. He praised CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for implementing their vision, citing poverty alleviation efforts and the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar statue, while slamming the coalition government for neglecting this legacy, attacking Dalits, and filing false cases. He called for unity to end such oppression.
Former MP Nandigam Suresh said YS Jagan tirelessly pursued Jagjivan Ram’s goals, accusing the current regime of harassing marginalized groups and urging collective action. MLC Arun Kumar lauded YS Jagan for empowering Dalits with high posts and called for his leadership’s return to counter discrimination. TJR Sudhakar Babu, YSRCP SC Cell President, called Jagjivan Ram a transformative icon, affirming YS Jagan’s commitment to his path.
Former MLAs Malladi Vishnu and Kaile Anil Kumar praised Jagjivan Ram’s contributions to weaker sections and YS Jagan’s efforts to advance his ideals, predicting an enduring legacy.
