Tadepalli, April 7: YSRCP Farmers’ Wing State Working President Vaddi Raghuram has sharply criticized the state government’s apathy towards farmers, accusing Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu of neglecting their plight. He stated that while farmers across the state are struggling, Chandrababu remains unresponsive, seemingly indifferent to their hardships. In contrast, Raghuram praised former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for standing in solidarity with farmers, particularly those cultivating chilies and bananas, by personally visiting them and offering support. He questioned Chandrababu’s inaction, asking, “What is Chandrababu doing for the farmers?”
Raghuram further stated that the government is evading its responsibility to procure grains by citing various excuses, leaving farmers in distress. He highlighted YS Jagan’s initiatives, such as establishing a special authority to advance the aqua sector, eliminating middlemen exploitation, reducing feed prices, and negotiating with Union Minister Goyal to lower taxes, measures that significantly benefited aqua farmers. However, he lamented that the current condition of aqua farmers has deteriorated alarmingly, with Chandrababu failing to address their struggles. Raghuram demanded to know why the Chief Minister is not taking steps to boost local marketing, a move YS Jagan had prioritized, and why promises made by Chandrababu and Pawan Kalyan to reduce feed prices by Rs. 200 remain unfulfilled.
Raghuram also pointed out the harassment faced by grain farmers from millers under the pretext of moisture content and criticized Chandrababu for not providing even minimal assistance to farmers in the flood-affected Errakaluva region. He further noted that the promised Rs. 20,000 under the "Annadata Sukheebhava" scheme had not been disbursed to farmers. Concluding his remarks, Raghuram affirmed the party’s readiness to launch any movement necessary to advocate for farmers’ rights.
